NFDI Travels: Winnipeg
I have a hunch Winnipeg is not high on people's list of travel destinations, however if you happen to find yourself in this Canadian city, we've got all the places to see, eat and shop during your stay.
With extreme temperatures from +40 to -40 degrees celcius, summer is the best time to visit. If you're into live theatre and performances, the Fringe Festival happens every year in mid-July in the centre of the Exchange District. If you're staying near or in this area it's perfect for walking around, however a car is suggested if you'd like to venture anywhere outside this area.
Here are our favourite finds from our visit.

If you like a cocktail with your morning coffee, Clementine is the place for you!
If you like a cocktail with your morning coffee, Clementine is the place for you! Pick up your morning coffee and some avocado toast and watch the world go by at Forth. After 4pm, their rooftop patio opens for mimosas, wine or beer. Best of both worlds!
Thom Bargen coffee shop is the perfect spot to relax, work or grab and go.
Stella's was recommended to us by a local and did not disappoint. The quaint patio was perfect for a Saturday morning brunch.
Lunch
King & Bannatyne specializes in hand crafted yummy sandwhiches along with homemade dill pickles.
Love sushi? Love burritos? Chosabi is for you! Their sushi burritos are delish and SO filling. I could only finish half so a good sharing meal if you have a smaller appetite :)
Dinner
Located next to the Alt Hotel (another STAY option in Winnipeg), The Merchant Kitchen has a street food influence and is great for a casual, yet yummy array of Mexican tapas.
Once the city's water works building, Cibo Waterfront Café is namely located right on the river, directly behind the Mere Hotel. We found ourselves hanging out for hours enjoying the sun, delicious food and their great patio.
Deer and Almond is high end, homestyle cooking. The menu is created to share, which means you can try more - my kind of eating! On a side note, The dishes are handmade by Pepo ceramics, a local artisan located just down the street. (see below for more)
Shop
I'm obsessed with stationary so Tiny Feast was the perfect spot for me!
Head to Lennard Taylor for a fashion experience. His store is also his studio where he designs and makes all his clothes. While he has an architectural and structured approach to his designs, they are still very feminine. I loved the experience of having Lennard on site offering advice and sharing insight into his designs.
Visit Public for a modern day General Store with both new and vintage finds.
In an unassuming location, on the 4th floor of a historic garment factory building lives Wilder, Old Hat, Commonwealth and Pepo Ceramics. These inspiring store/studio spaces are a must visit.

We were in Winnipeg a few years prior and the Canadian Museum for Human Rights was still under construction. This visit it was high on our list and it did not disappoint. Interactive, informative and thought provoking, I left contemplating the world past, present and future. The architecture, both interior and exterior in and of itself is worth the visit.
