Reveal! Elbow Park Modern Kitchen

I feel one of the most unassuming details in this Calgary home are the lines. Whether planned or not, hard surface or play on light, there is a linear relationship throughout the home, beautiful in and of itself. The linear details play through from architecture to interior design and details. Some are high level intention, others pure happenstance. The connection from exterior to interior is on point.

The kitchen is a testament to the linear quality and thoughtfulness of the home. Our client requested a two-tone kitchen with white and walnut. The glossy white cabinets are framed with a thick, 5" walnut frame and a quartz slab backsplash. The hood fan is functionally subtle in glossy white as well.

Six Bacco counter stools line the island for family friendly, daily eating.

Rather than centring four pendants over the island we grouped two and two, offset equidistant from the sink which is centred on the island. The concrete pendants are subtle in design yet highly functional for the work surface area below.

The open concept kitchen is part of the living and dining rooms providing a welcoming atmosphere and connectivity within the home.

The glossy white cabinets fill the fridge wall, also framed in walnut, and carry through to the pantry behind the kitchen.

The light coming through the stairwell curtain wall fills the space between island and range wall adding a natural source of linear detail.

The modern interior design of the home was at the request of our clients who were coming from a more traditional style home, broken up rooms and less natural light. This bright and airy home is a welcome change.

In the adjacent dining room, artwork by Anda Kubis from Newzones adds colour and impact in an otherwise neutral space.
