Throw a Last Minute Canada Day Party

We're heading into Canada Day long weekend!

I'm not sure what the weather looks like in your neck of the woods, but it's forecasted to be pretty rainy here in Calgary. Sounds like staying in and hosting a few friends may be the perfect plan. But as they say, wait 10 minutes and the weather will change. So here's hoping the pattern shifts and the sun comes out!

Regardless, I hope you have a chance to enjoy time with family and friends this weekend celebrating the amazing country we call home.

Last year we had a spontaneous get together with friends. We embraced a red and white theme and created a patriotic theme with food and decor in a quick, easy and super fun way.

Here are a few tips for throwing a last minute Canada Day party using items you probably have kicking around your house:

White cloth napkins wrapped with red ribbon are an easy way to make a statement. Pair them with rattan chargers and everyday white or eco-friendly bamboo plates for a natural feel.

Pick up a bag of Old Dutch red and white tortilla chips and serve with salsa. Serve in red dishes to complete the look! For fun, we included Playmobil animals to adorn the charcuterie board and add some Canadiana flavour.

Craft paper is a staple product in my house as it comes in handy often. In this case, we used it as a table runner and painted Canadian flags to dress up the table.
